Your favorite writer’s favorite writer is someone the world hasn’t discovered yet: Nao-Cola Yamazaki, a name cited in interviews with Japanese authors and literary translators as someone who deserves more international recognition.
More than 20 years after Yamazaki’s Japanese-language debut, two of the author’s books have finally appeared in English translation for the first time.
“Don’t Laugh at Other People’s Sex Lives,” translated by Polly Barton, and “Beautiful Distance,” translated by Charlotte Goff, hit bookstores Sept. 29, both hand-selected by actress and book-lover Sarah Jessica Parker for her own imprint, SJP Lit.
