The last time Colombia played in Miami Gardens two years ago, it was chaos. Thousands of ticketless fans breached the security gates at Hard Rock Stadium to watch the Copa America final against Argentina.
Saturday, Colombia returned to the venue — called Miami Stadium during the World Cup because of FIFA’s policies about sponsorship — for the first time since that match.
This time, the opponent was Portugal, the first time the countries had met in the World Cup despite long and rich international soccer histories. The teams, playing their final group-stage match, already had secured spots in the round of 32.
