Silver (SI=F) December futures opened at $63.42 per ounce on Thursday, September 17, 2026, down 2.3% from Wednesday’s closing price. Silver prices are moving back up this morning, reaching $64.57 as of 7:10 a.m. ET.
Like gold, silver prices didn’t change much after the Fed’s decision to raise rates for the first time in three years. After opening at their lowest level all week, silver prices moved higher in early trading.
Markets seem to have a certain level of confidence following the Fed’s move to battle rising costs, and reports that oil will soon be flowing normally again through Saudi Arabia’s key East-West pipeline, which was damaged earlier this week.
Oil prices are just under $100 a barrel this morning, down significantly from yesterday, when oil cost nearly $108 a barrel.
