MANILA, Philippines — Korean actor Song Joong-ki and his wife Katy Louise Saunders, a former actress, made their first public appearance as a couple since marrying in 2023.
The couple attended the “Kinderszenen” concert of the Gaon Soloists in the Seoul Arts Center earlier this week. The event was part of Korea’s National Day of Persons with Disabilities commemorations.
The Korean superstar and his wife joined the program’s opening segment by narrating “Introduction And Royal March Of The Lion” in English and Korean from French composer Camille Saint-Saens’ “The Carnival Of The Animals.”
The couple reportedly participated to show their support for the event featuring an ensemble of disabled and non-disabled musicians, and even took photos with fellow performers, including fellow actress Kim So-hyun and violinist Shin Yoon-hwang.
Joong-ki — best known for his roles in “Vincenzo,” “Reborn Rich,” and “Space Sweepers” — was previously married to his “Descendants of the Sun” co-star Song Hye-kyo but they divorced in 2019 after nearly two years together.
Fans were caught by surprise when Joong-ki confirmed in 2022 that he was dating Saunders. By January 2023, he revealed they were marrying and expecting their first child.
The two reportedly met in 2021. Saunders helped teach Joong-ki speak Italian for the actor’s 2021 drama “Vincenzo.”
The couple has two children and have homes in Korea and Italy.
After his marriage, Joong-ki has starred in projects like “My Youth,” “My Name Is Loh Kiwan,” “Hopeless,” “Bogota: City of the Lost,” and a cameo in “Queen of Tears.”
