MANILA, Philippines — With just over a month left before it premieres in the Philippines, Sony and Columbia Pictures have dropped another full-length trailer for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.”
The new trailer begins with Tom Holland as the titular superhero struggling in a fight against Michael Mando’s Mac Gargan in a mechanical Scorpion suit due to biological changes.
Amid concerns he is losing control of his powers, the man formerly known to the world as Peter Parker continues to keep tabs on his loved ones Ned and MJ (Fil-Am Jacob Batalon and Holland’s wife Zendaya) who are now in their final semester at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Peter approaches Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) and asks about the latter’s success suppressing mutating DNA, specifically if it’s possible to keep good features and get rid of the bad.
“How would you decide what parts of nature are good or bad?” Bruce asks back over a clip of Spider-Man accidentally crashing into a wedding.
A character named Bill played by “Severance” star Tramell Tillman informs the webslinger of an unseen threat, capable of jumping into the consciousness of different people.
Peter appears in Ned and MJ’s apartment where Ned has put up a bulletin board trying to deduce Spider-Man’s identity and the supposed villain, likely Sadie Sink, threatens Peter by unleashing Banner as the Hulk.
The two Avengers battle and Peter obtains MJ’s trust to rescue her, seeking the assistance of Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal, fresh off his “Punisher” special).
More action clips are shown of Spider-Man particularly going up against members of the Hand criminal organization, and before the title card is a touching moment of Peter at the grave of his aunt May.
The trailer ends with Spider-Man, quipping that he’s not longer a highschooler, stretching his body before engaging in a fight with armed security guards. — Video from Columbia Pictures Philippines’ YouTube channel
