Rick Owens and Adidas aren’t the only dynamic duo who made a long-awaited reunion at Paris Fashion Week. The brave souls who sweated it out until PFW’s final day were rewarded with a peek at Sacai’s forthcoming Birkenstock collab, the first in more than ten years. Revealed today at the Japanese label’s spring 2027 menswear show, the collection smashes together three iconic Birkenstock styles—the Arizona, the Madrid, and the Boston—into two new hybrid models.
The first of the new designs is the Aoyama 107, named for the brand’s Tokyo flagship, and combines the one-strap Madrid—Birkenstock’s first-ever sandal, introduced in 1963—with the ubiquitous two-strap Arizona introduced in 1973. The second style, the Cassette 75, is a mashup of the Arizona and the Boston clog (which, incidentally, turns 50 this year).
There’s also a utility bag, available in two sizes and made from the same leathers as the sandals, complete with Birkenstock’s signature bone-patterned outsole on the base. “Grounded in a shared philosophy of being close to people, I explored how far each brand’s long-established traditions and essence could be extended and elevated while remaining intact,” Sacai founder Chitose Abe tells GQ via email. “The process of exploring those possibilities was grounded in a strong sense of conviction and deeply inspiring.”
