President Donald Trump said the Iranian nuclear sites that were hit by the U.S. military in Operation Midnight Hammer last year were also “drug factories.”
Trump made the new claim while stumping for Republican candidates at a campaign rally in Oklahoma on Thursday.
During his wide-ranging speech, the president revisited the success of the June 2025 operation that resulted in the destruction of three nuclear facilities in Iran. But, according to Trump, the facilities were apparently responsible for producing drugs as well.
The B-2 stealth bombers “unloaded every single bomb, went right down the air chutes into these drug factories really,” Trump said. “That’s what they were doing. They were nuclear and drug. They were doing drugs, but they were doing the nuclear. But these drug factories/nuclear factories were hit so hard.”
The president didn’t go too much into the details of the drugs beyond that.
“Those things, you know, granite mountains, granite strong went right down the air chutes,” he said. “I don’t think they’ll be building too many air chutes from now on. I can tell you that.”
RUBIO DEMANDED IRANIAN DELEGATION LEAVE US AFTER TALKS STALLED
The Pentagon executed Operation Midnight Hammer months before launching a full-scale war with Iran. Trump has said the purpose of Operation Epic Fury was to prevent the Iranian regime from developing nuclear weapons, but in the past, he has described Operation Midnight Hammer as a “spectacular military success” that resulted in the “complete and total obliteration” of Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
The U.S. war with Iran remains ongoing as indirect diplomatic talks between both sides have stalled.
