Music superstar Dua Lipa selected a custom CHANEL Haute Couture wedding dress for her marriage ceremony to Callum Turner. The couple first married in a private civil ceremony at Old Marylebone Town Hall in London, then gathered guests in Palermo, Sicily, for a three day wedding celebration.
BRIDAL
The main ceremony took place at Villa Valguarnera in Bagheria, near Palermo. The 18th century estate gave the wedding a dramatic setting, while the CHANEL dress gave the day its defining fashion moment. Matthieu Blazy designed the bridal gown for Lipa, marking his first CHANEL Haute Couture wedding dress for a friend of the House. The design also reflected Lipa’s close relationship with the brand.
CHANEL made the dress by hand in its Haute Couture ateliers in Paris. Several Maisons d’art contributed to the final look, each bringing a specific technique to the gown, veil and shoes. Atelier Montex embroidered the dress with 480,000 beads, building a dense surface across the bridal silhouette. Lesage created trompe l’oeil jewels through 1,155 hours of needlework, adding a jewel effect directly into the fabric.
Lemarié added 25,000 feathers to the gown and its two metre train. The feathers gave the lower part of the dress a softer texture and extended the detail into the train. Blazy shaped the gown with a halter front and low back, keeping the cut direct while the embroidery and feather work carried the visual weight.
CHANEL completed the bridal look with a six metre tulle veil. The veil featured bead and feather embroidery, along with hand cut organza appliqués. A feather detailed headpiece framed the veil, and Massaro created custom white satin pumps for Lipa.
