Former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings reportedly turned down a contract offer from the team worth $17 million during the regular season.
Jennings wanted to bet on himself heading into free agency — and while his position was understandable, it seemingly backfired on him.
Jennings went unsigned through the first wave of free agency, not getting an offer in line with the contract he was seeking. But a little over after a week past the 2026 NFL draft, Jennings finally has a new place to call home, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
“Former 49ers free-agent WR Jauan Jennings and the Minnesota Vikings reached agreement today on a one-year deal worth up to $13 million, per his agent Drew Rosenhaus,” Schefter posted on X.
Jennings had visited the Vikings over a week ago, which presumably set the groundwork for Thursday’s deal.
“The visit ‘went well,’ and talks are ongoing between the two sides,” Darren Wolfson of Snor North reported. “Minnesota seems interested in a one-year deal, and his skills as a blocker and pass-catcher are seen as a strong fit.”
In five years with the 49ers, Jennings posted 210 catches on 330 targets for 2,581 yards, and 22 touchdowns. His best season came two years ago when he recorded 77 receptions and 975 yards, he logged a career-high nine touchdowns last year.
With the Vikings, Jennings will slot in behind Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison as the team’s WR3, giving Minnesota arguably the top 1-2-3 WR punch in the NFL.
Jefferson has started his career with six straight 1,000-yard seasons, totaling 42 touchdowns.
Addison, on the other hand, has had a more up-and-down start to his career. He burst onto the scene with a 911-yard, 10-touchdown rookie year, and he’s averaged 52.5 catches, 742.5 yards, and six touchdowns in the two seasons since.
