Director Tran Thanh’s latest hit “Bunny!!” (original title: “Tho Oi”) is set to premiere internationally beginning March 26 through specialty distributor 3388 Films. The rollout will launch in Germany, Czech Republic, and Slovakia on March 26, followed by releases in the USA, Canada, UK, Norway, and Poland on March 27. France will follow on March 28, with Mongolia and Taiwan scheduled for May 22, while additional territories are expected to be announced.
The title has already proven a massive success in Vietnam, grossing over $16 million and becoming the country’s number one film of the year, as well as one of the top five highest-grossing titles of all time. Tran Thanh continues to dominate the local industry, now holding five spots among Vietnam’s top ten highest-grossing productions. In a market where 100 billion VND is considered a hit, he remains the only filmmaker whose works have all surpassed 300 billion VND at the domestic box office.
“Bunny!!” is a psychological thriller centered on a popular relationship advice host whose carefully curated life begins to unravel after meeting a guest with a mysterious past, leading both into a spiraling chain of events with unexpected consequences. The ensemble cast includes Tran Thanh, Phao, Lyly, Van Mai Huong, Quoc Anh, Vinh Dam, Phap Kieu, Ali Hoang Duong, Quang Thang, Thanh Lam, BB Tran, Dinh Ngoc Diep, Orange, Gil Le, and Cris Phan.
Thien A. Pham, founder of 3388 Films, commented on the release, noting that Tran Thanh’s bold approach played a crucial role in the film’s success. Released during the Tet holiday, traditionally reserved for light-hearted family entertainment, “Bunny!!” took a different path as a dark romance drama, ultimately resonating strongly with audiences and demonstrating the director’s keen understanding of market dynamics. The distributor emphasized its commitment to supporting innovative projects and expanding the reach of Asian cinema to global audiences.
The film is directed by Tran Thanh and produced by Tran Thanh Town, Galaxy Studio, and HKFilm, with international distribution handled by 3388 Films.
