Armed with his soulful vocals and a handful of instruments, Daniel Caesar effortlessly captivated the crowd as he took the stage for his “DANIEL CAESAR: Son of Spergy Tour 2026” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. Clad simply in a plain white shirt and shorts, the Canadian musician delivered a performance that felt intimate, chill and seamlessly laid-back.
The STAR attended the opening night, on May 19, of his three-night show presented by Live Nation Philippines.
Backed by his bandmates and a choir, the R&B singer-songwriter opened his act with Moon, accompanied by smoke effects and dim lighting, in a stripped-down production with no flashy theatrics.
He casually walked around the stage with a cameraman following him, capturing his emotions as he poured his heart out in the succeeding tracks, such as Have a Baby (With Me) and Who Knows.
At one point, he sipped a drink while the choir chanted in the background. Strumming his guitar, he told the audience, “OK, Manila, it’s been like a year (since I was here)… I can do whatever I want. And so what we’re gonna do is slow this down a bit,” before launching into ARE YOU OK?, with the backup singers chanting the melody.
Seated on a chair at center stage, Daniel drew screams of “I love you” and enthusiastic applause from the audience as he performed Japanese Denim, a fan favorite from 2015.

During Best Part and Get You, Daniel lay on the stage and let the enthusiastic fans sing the beloved tracks. Amused by the crowd’s singing, he commented afterward, “That was a good one.”
A personal favorite for many, Always followed in a stripped-down version of the evocative track. He then moved to his keyboard for Please Do Not Lean.
Daniel’s performance was briefly interrupted when a medical emergency appeared to unfold in the crowd, with members of the audience signaling toward the area in concern. “Everything’s OK,” Daniel reassured the audience before continuing the set.
Another commotion occurred during Baby Blue, where he expressed concern, saying, “Just make sure he’s OK,” before going on with the performance.
For the spiritual-themed track Sins of the Father, the lights brightened and focused on him as the choir echoed the refrain before he left the stage.
He later returned, took a sip of his drink, strummed his guitar, and drew cheers from concertgoers.
“I’m gonna play a couple more songs,” he said to the crowd’s delight, before easing into a run of acoustic numbers, including Provider.
Actress Dawn Zulueta was among those spotted in the audience during the concert.
