Edible Garden is expanding its partnership with one of the largest retail chains in the U.S.
In an April 21 press release, the Belvidere-based hydroponic farming company announced it will grow distribution with Target to include fresh-cut herbs.
Edible Garden CEO Jim Kras remarked, “We are proud to build on our relationship with Target, a key partner, as we continue to scale our distribution and meet growing demand for fresh, organic and sustainably grown herbs.”
He noted that the increased business with the banner is expected to accelerate revenue growth, increase brand visibility and strengthen Edible Garden’s position in the fresh herb category.
After initially partnering in 2021, the companies have deepened their relationship to include additional product categories and more locations.
One of the latest agreements brought Edible Garden’s clean-label, performance-driven sports nutrition line to Target.com. Items under the Kick Sports Nutrition label include protein powders, plant-based proteins, pre-workout and post-workout formulas, along with hydration products.
Following the most recent deal with Target, Kras said, “We view this additional business as a meaningful opportunity to drive growth, increase our presence within a key retailer, and demonstrate the strength of our operating model. As we execute, we believe this will further position Edible Garden with leading national retailers and support long-term value creation.”
Simply the fresh
Founded in 2015, Edible Garden’s locally grown, sustainable lettuce, organic herbs, hydro basil, salad kits, sauces and protein powders are available at more than 6,000 stores, including Aldi, The Fresh Market, H Mart, Kroger, Meijer, ShopRite, Stop & Shop, Stew Leonard’s, Walmart and Whole Foods Market.
In addition to its headquarters in New Jersey, Edible Garden operates facilities in Michigan and Iowa. Efforts are also underway to expand the existing site in Iowa to become a hub for ready-to-drink nutrition products.
The company also works with contract growers near major U.S. markets to keep products fresh and reduce environmental impact.
