MANILA, Philippines — Former adult film actress Maria Ozawa explained why adult content in Japan are pixelated.
Maria was the special guest in an episode of “The Men’s Room” podcast hosted by Janno Gibbs and Stanley Chi.
The former actress explained that the pixelated sexy content gives a certain mystery to them and sells fantasy.
“I think it’s just a culture. That’s how they market. It’s like a whole package. You can see almost everything but that part,” she said.
“I think it’s just like, I don’t know, it makes it more mysterious. And then, of course, it’s about fantasy. We are selling those to mostly 90% male market,” she added.
Maria also said that the contents’ largely male market needs to feel good about themselves.
“They have to feel good about themselves and we have to take care of their fantasy. It’s like, ‘If he can do that, I can do that.’ You have to give them a dream,” she said.
Maria, a Japanese-Canadian, is known as “Miyabi” in her former work. Her career in the adult film industry began in 2005 and lasted until 2010.
